Adriana Lima's Bow Hairstyle: Breakdown From Hairstylist

February 2024 · 2 minute read

All wrapped up with a bow — make that two! Adriana Lima hit the red carpet at the 2016 amfAR New York Gala in NYC on Wednesday, February 10, modeling a bow-backed dress — and a hairstyle to match!

“Adriana was wearing a beautiful red Marchesa dress and it had a detailed bow that had to be seen,” celebrity hairstylist Jennifer Yepez tells Us. “So to show it off so we decided to do an up-do. And as an homage, we made a bow with Adriana’s beautiful long hair.”

To create the structured ‘do, Yepez rough-dried Lima’s brunette tresses with a Mason Pearson brush until it was pin-straight. She then parted her hair down the middle, using a tail comb. She spritzed Kerastase Laque Couture to the front of her hair before slicking it back into a low ponytail.

Here’s where it gets a little tricky: Once the ponytail was in place, the stylist divided her hair into two sections. Working on one at a time, Yepez combed through the hair before saturating the top half with hairspray. She blew it dry and made a loop, securing it with an elastic. The stylist, who also works with Emmy Rossum and Gigi Hadid, repeated on the second section so she had two loops.

To conceal the bands, Yepez wrapped a few loose strands around the elastics, then straightened the remaining pieces with a flat iron. She added a dollop of Nexxus Oil Infinite on the two loose ponytail ends for shine, and finished with Kerastase K Gloss Appeal to make sure the style didn’t budge.
