A luxury home that used to belong to Hollywood legend Gene Hackman which straddles the 10th hole of Pebble Beach golf course has gone on the market for a massive $79 million.

Located directly on the sands of Carmel Beach, the 3.8 acre property has three separate residences with a total of ten bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and five half bathrooms and an ocean-view bar.

Bought by prominent Californian real estate developer Carl Panattoni from Hackman in 1993, the compound has landscaped gardens, an oceanfront patio and private access to the beautiful Carmel Beach.

Over the course of the past 19 years, Panattoni has added two properties to the original home that Hackman lived in and if sold for its asking price would instantly become of the most expensive sales in Californian history.

'There's nothing like it on the West Coast,' said Mike Canning, one of two Carmel real estate agents listing the property.
